While Emergent offers a comprehensive lineup of industry-leading high-speed cameras, we are more than just cameras. We can design, integrate, and ship turnkey high-performance, high-speed imaging systems consisting of multiple GigE Vision cameras, multiple servers, GPUs, FPGA cards, SSDs, switches, and more — all designed to custom specification. The turnkey systems can be used for general deployment in the field or to test the performance and even prototype custom GPU algorithms such as AI/inference, pattern matching, 3D reconstruction, Gaussian Splatting, H.265, and more. In addition, users can work with saved images from software such as NERF (neural radiance fields), RealityCapture, Theia Markerless, Agisoft, etc., for applications in volumetric capture, metaverse, and motion capture. For completely custom solutions, users can deploy our eSDK with all the same performance benefits.

Emergent Vision Technologies cameras support an optimized GigE Vision Stream Protocol (GVSP) approach. This means that all Emergent cameras deliver zero-copy-image transfer and zero-data-loss imaging capabilities, which ensures efficient image transfer with minimal CPU overhead — something that’s crucial for multi-camera systems and real-time processing.

In one system Emergent recently shipped, three servers and 48 Bolt HB-25000-SB-C 25GigE cameras (25MP, 60fps) recorded and saved 200Gbps (25GB) per server for a total of 600Gbps (75GB) across all three servers with zero data loss thanks to Emergent’s zero-copy technology. These cameras were synchronized to sub 1µs through IEEE 1588 PTP v2. With Emergent’s eCapture Pro software, users can simply connect the cables, power up, and run the software. In just a few clicks you will see your data come to life. Check out the video above to see the initial software experience and come talk to us at the booth about how we can serve your turnkey system needs.

Eros 5GigE Cameras: High-Speed, Low-Cost Cameras with SWIR Options

emergent vision technologies introduces eros 5gige camera series

The forthcoming Eros 5GigE camera series represents a groundbreaking addition to the Emergent product lineup that will bring a new dimension of versatility and affordability to the high-speed imaging market. Designed to serve a wide range of applications, Eros cameras support 5GigE, 2.5GigE, and 1GigE speeds through auto-negotiation and will feature many of the latest Sony 4th generation Pregius S CMOS image sensors, similar to those in our 10GigE and 25GigE cameras. However, Eros cameras will offer lower speed, lower cost, and smaller-sized options, while still maintaining our renowned zero-copy imaging approach, which utilizes built-in header splitting features in network interface cards (NICs) to perform zero-copy image transfer, a critical requirement for top performance in lower speed multi-camera configurations.

Eros cameras will also feature models based on Sony’s SenSWIR CMOS image sensors, which extends imaging capabilities into the shortwave infrared range, from 400 to 1700nm, making them suitable for applications including agricultural imaging and semiconductor inspection, where materials and substances beyond the visible spectrum need to be analyzed. This includes the HE-300-S-IHE-1300-S-IHE-3200-S-I, and HE-5300-S-I SWIR cameras. In addition, the Eros family will include models featuring Sony Polarsens polarized CMOS image sensor technology, which allows for enhanced surface inspection, particularly useful in detecting defects on shiny or reflective surfaces. This includes the HE-5000-S-PM and the HE-12000-S-PM polarization cameras.

Our eCapture Pro recording and reconstruction software provides end users with a graphic interface for easy system integration, with no software coding or system design knowledge needed. A 2022 NAB Product of the Year award winner in the Camera Support, Control, and Accessories category, eCapture Pro also offers complete project management, camera setting flexibility, advanced preview and recording capabilities, synchronized capture to microsecond accuracy, and calibration, background, and production take management capabilities. In addition, the software now supports GPUDirect, H.265 and H.264 video codecs, and RTMP (real-time messaging protocol).

Emergent has developed a plug-in for eCapture Pro that leverages GPUDirect functionality to get images directly onto a GPU with zero-copy and zero-loss technology. In addition to offering users the ability to develop custom plug-ins, eCapture Pro offers plug-ins for polarization, deep learning inference, pattern matching, H.265 and RTMP, and SSD recording. A recent webinar highlighted the technology:

  • Polarization plug-in: A single 10GigE polarized camera using GPUDirect technology on an RTX A6000 GPU
  • Deep learning inference plug-in: An Emergent GigE Vision camera detects and classifies cups in a scene while the software tracks objects in motion.
  • Pattern-matching plug-in: A general-purpose pattern-matching plug-in leveraging GPU technology
  • 265 and RTMP plug-in: A 24-camera system running on a single midrange server. It can expands to 48 cameras on the same switch, with a GPU added to handle the additional compute requirements.
  • SSD recording plug-in: A 48-camera system leveraging 25MP 25GigE cameras, all connected to network interface cards through a 48-port switch, where cameras are routed to specific SSDs for recording. IEEE 1588 PTP is also leveraged for synchronization within 1 µs accuracy.
